UPSL Announces Midwest Expansion with Tulip City United SC

Holland (Mich.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins Midwest Conference

September 19, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Tulip City United Soccer Club as a member kicking off with the 2020 Spring Season.

Based in Holland (Mich.), Tulip City United SC will begin UPSL play in the Midwest Conference Division I and host its UPSL homes games at Holland High School (600 Van Raalte Ave., Holland, MI 49423) in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "We are pleased to announce another strong addition to the UPSL's Midwest Conference with Tulip City United SC. The UPSL Midwest Conference is a powerful force for Pro Development soccer as one of the elite divisions in all the United States, and we're proud to see the conference continue to grow and develop a strong footprint in Michigan. Tulip City United SC has a skilled a professional Board of Directors committed to connecting with its community and providing a top-notch game day experience for its players and supporters. We wish the club success as it continues to prepare for the 2020 Spring Season."

Co-founded by Matt Davis, Rebecca Leclaire and Trent Ramos, Tulip City United Soccer Club is a registered non-profit organization in the State of Michigan, and is operated by a Board of Directors.

Tulip City United SC Chairman and CEO John Decloush said, "We got this idea to see what we could do to bring high-level soccer to Holland, because the mission is to bring a sense of community to Holland through soccer. It's a very diverse group of people in Holland and there are a lot of different ethnic groups, and we want to bring them out and connect them. We're very involved with the community now, and it's growing and growing and we're very excited to take the next step in to the UPSL."

Leclaire serves as Vice President of Tulip City United SC's Board of Directors. Ramos is the team's General Manager, and designed the club's working relationship with the Boys & Girls Club of Holland (Mich.). Davis is Director of Community Engagement.

Dave Brandt is Head Coach of Tulip City United FC. Brandt currently serves as Men's Head Coach at Holland (MIch.)'s Hope College. David Blahnik is Assistant Coach. Klass DeBoer is Recruiting Director.

Tulip City United SC also has entered into an agreement with Nike Soccer to supply the club kits ahead of the 2020 Spring Season.

The club will host its first of five tryouts at Holland (Mich.)'s Hope College's Van Andel Soccer Stadium (225 Fairbanks Ave., Holland, MI 49423) on Sunday, Nov. 24.

Tulip City United SC is an American Soccer club currently based in Holland, Mich., and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. Tulip City United SC will begin play in the UPSL Midwest Conference.

Founded in 2019, Tulip City United SC is a non-profit organization with the sole purpose of uniting Holland (Mich.)'s rich and diverse cultures together in one place over the love of the game of soccer. The club can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 400-plus teams targeted for 2019 Fall Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
